The good people at the Tax Foundation have published the map below, which displays sales tax rates in the United States. Those shaded in brown feature the 12 highest rates. Those in purple are the lowest. Our readers will notice that New Jersey is among the highest. Astute readers will notice that nearby states (except NY) with which our businesses compete sport lower sales tax rates. Seems like a fair case for the CIANJ-supported partial sales tax holiday, no?
